Our Mission
Aurora Pavilion is committed to providing quality psychiatric evaluation jand treatment services for people affected by emotional stress, mental illness and addictive disease, while also educating their families and the community.
Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health Services is an acute care, crisis stabilization program offering short-term inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization and adult intensive outpatient treatment programs. The facility is located on the campus of Aiken Regional Medical Centers and has 47 beds. Family members and caregivers aren encouraged to participate in their loved one's recovery process so that ongoing support can be provided at home after the patient leaves the program.

Since 1991, Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health Sciences has brought renewed hope for those suffering from emotional, behavioral and addiction problems. The 47-bed facility is accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The facility offers comprehensive, individualized treatment services by a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, master’s level clinicians, mental health technicians, recreation therapists and educational services K-12 committed to high quality care.
Services
RESPOND
Aurora Pavilion Behavioral Health Services sponsors a free, comprehensive community service called RESPOND. This resource is designed to assist you by providing free clinical assessments, information, and referral assistance for emotional and behaviorial health problems. The RESPOND team of professionals are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Aurora Pavilion's Inpatient Program
Offers a comprehensive individualized treatment plan is offered in which family participation is encouraged. Intensive inpatient care includes medical care, individual and group therapy, family therapy, recreational therapy and aftercare planning. Inpatient treatment services are provided for: children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults.
Partial Hospitalization
Partial hospitalization offers intensive treatment in a setting that allows participants to get help for their problems during the day and live at home at night. Partial hospitalization is available for each of the service areas and can help patients make a smooth transition from inpatient care back into the community.
Child and Adolescent Services
A child or adolescent’s emotional problems can surface at home, at school and among peers. Family, friends and teachers who observe any of the following warning signs should seek professional help for the child:
* Statements or behaviors that pose a danger to oneself or others
* Unmanageability at home and elsewhere
* Depressed mood
* Severe anxiety
* Inattention
* Falling grades
* School conflict
* Hallucinations (visual and/or auditory)
If these signs are present, an assessment should be conducted to indicate what treatment is necessary. The treatment program provides a comprehensive individualized plan for each patient ages 5 to 17. The program encourages as much family participation as possible.
Adult Psychiatric Treatment Services
Treatment is available for adults ages 18 and up requiring acute care to ensure safe stabilization from an emotional or behavioral crisis. Treatment may be appropriate for someone who displays one or more of the following:
* Suicidal ideations/gestures
* Homicidal ideation/gestures
* Psychotic behaviors
* Self-mutilative behaviors
* Major depression
* Anxiety
Senior Adult Treatment Services
The elderly present a unique diagnostic and treatment challenge because of the often complex interaction of physical, psychological, cognitive, behavioral and social problems common to this age group. The treatment program is designed to rapidly assess and treat the issues including:
* Psychological symptoms of depression
* Anxiety
* The relationship of physical symptoms to emotional distress
* Behavioral problems related to Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease and strokes
* Emotional complications of medical illness
* Schizophrenia, bi-polar disease or other psychiatric illnesses
* Alcohol
Addictive Disease Treatment Services
Treatment is available for adolescents ages 13 to 17 and adults 18 and up experiencing problems secondary to drug and/or alcohol abuse. These problems may be legal, family or work/school related. They may or may not be accompanied by psychological problems such as depression, suicidal thoughts, hallucinations, violent behavior and sleep disturbances.
Medical detoxification and treatment, individual and group therapy, 12-step recovery meetings are offered. The staff works closely with community agencies to ensure high-quality and confidential individualized care and long-term planning to maintain recovery and sobriety. Intensive outpatient treatment is also available.
Partial Hospitalization Program
Offers intensive treatment while allowing patients live at home and received treatment for their illnesses during the day. Partial hospitalization is offered to all services areas and can provide a smooth transition from inpatient care back into the community, as well as, provide a satisfying alternative to inpatient care.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Offers adults the opportunity to participate in psychiatric or addiction treatment programs that are held Tuesday through Thursday. Sessions are led by licensed therapists and are held for three hours per day.
